Oregon Cascades West Council of Governments

Fred Abouselman, Executive Director of Oregon Cascades West Council of Governments (OCWCOG), attended the September, 12, 2016, Lincoln City Council meeting and gave a presentation about the services available to the City. Senior Meals/Meals on Wheels:The Senior Meals program serves hot, nutritious midday meals and offers companionship to those who are at least 60 years of age and their spouses, and to Native Americans who are at least 55.

Lincoln County Rural Development Fund Loans: Available in Lincoln county only, the Lincoln County Rural Development Fund Loans assist for-profit or not-for-profit businesses that are ineligible for other public or private financing and in need of short-term operating capital; no real estate projects are eligible.

Safe Routes to School Program: OCWCOG administers the Oregon Department of Transportation’s Safe Routes to School program for several communities including Lincoln and portions of Linn Counties. Activities include developing an “Action Plan” for addressing goals for promoting walking and biking to schools, as well as organizing Walk and Bike to School Days.

 

 

Follow-up to Oregon Mayor’s Association Conference

A few more pictures from the Conference and a BIG “thank you” to Suzanne Treece and all the other staff and volunteers who made it a success.

OMA President, Michael Cape, saw huge smiles on the faces of all the City staff and volunteers at every event and noted “Mayor Don Williams and staff did such an amazing job making us feel welcome…”.

The OMA hosted a silent auction during the Conference and raised a total of $3,340! Sixty percent of the money raised was donated to Mayor Williams’ charity of choice, Angels Anonymous. The remaining forty percent went to the OMA Conference Scholarship Fund.

Officer Tolzman Graduates from the Police Academy

Officer Hayden Tolzman graduated from the Oregon Police Academy on September 9th and now begins his final field training.  The Police Academy is a four month training program where candidates learn all aspects of the law, fire arms training, investigation techniques and community outreach.

Officer Tolzman  comes to Lincoln City from Redmond, Oregon where he served as  a Police Reserve Officer.
