DISASTER PREPAREDNESS: HOW READY ARE YOU?

The City of Lincoln City strongly encourages the community to educate and prepare for a disaster along the coast.  Take time to discuss with your family a plan that addresses all hazards we face such as wildfires, earthquakes, and tsunami’s.  Important plan items should address the following:

  • Who is your family emergency contact? (out of area or out of state) Make sure to help your children memorize the number as you could be separated during a disaster.
  • Where is your family meeting point?
  • What is your evacuation route?
  • Educate your family on the types of tsunami’s and warnings: distant and local.
  • Have “Go Kits” and “Stay Kits” prepared.
  • Keep gas tanks at least half full.
  • Keep emergency kits in different locations.
  • Have enough water, food, and medications to last at least a week.
  • Talk to your kids and become familiar with their school’s plan of emergency.

  • Southbound HWY 101 Lane Closure:Southbound U.S. 101 has one lane closed on the D-River Bridge in Lincoln City while a bridge support girder under the bridge is repaired. Closing the lane will reduce the weight of traffic on the bridge and provide a safer work area for crews and travelers.Crews have been working on the D-River Bridge for the past year, rehabilitating the bridge support girders, adding reinforcement to strengthen the bridge, and applying a cathodic protection system.
Crews removing damaged concrete from the westernmost girder found cracks in the girder that were larger than expected. Structural engineers are assessing the bridge to determine the appropriate method of repair.
The lane will remain closed until the girder is repaired and traffic can be supported safely.  FMI VISIT ODOT LINK
